Take your camera on a photo walk adventure in the beautiful Toronto Islands. We will spend the latter part of the afternoon learning tips and tricks to photograph various island features such as flora/fauna as it is in season. We may even come across water fowl and other wildlife in their habitats. The scheduled start time may change slightly, and we will be meeting on the island after exiting the ferry from the Jack Layton ferry terminal at Queens Quay, downtown.
The highlight of the event will be capturing the iconic Toronto city skyline in various degrees of light as the sun sets, culminating into the blue hour where the city lights make their appearance. This part of the adventure requires a tripod for your interchangeable lens camera. .
For our city skyline photographs, you will be given instruction on and proper setting for using Manual shooting mode on your camera for the ultimate control over the results. Even if you have no experence with Manual mode, we will guide you to getting some great keepers during your adventure. Our other shooting opportunities will make use of Aperture and Shutter priority modes.
A DSLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is essential. A lens with a focal length of anywhere from 35mm to 50mm is recommended for the skyline shots. One or two other lenses suitable for general photography are recommended. Zoom lenses may come in handy, up to 200mm but are not essential. A tripod is required and we recommend a light jacket, a snack, a bottle of water and comfortable walking shoes. Insect repellent may also be useful if the mosquitos are out.
This event is not recommended for those with mobility issues or health concerns where walking should be avoided. There are no refunds unless the event is cancelled. An alternative date will be provided if the weather is unsatisfactory. Please be certain that you can attend both dates as scheduled. Note that the cost of your ferry ticket is not included in your registration fee. Ferry tickets can be purchased online for less than ten dollars each. Only registered attendees may join our group. Thank you!
